BIST
BIST is a model of teaching and protecting students through grace and accountability that we use in the classroom and throughout DGS. Through it students will learn the 3 goals for life that give them skills for managing in the classroom. Our 5 classroom rules can be summarized into 2 expectations with BIST:
Rewards
Super Improvers: Students all receive a name card on our Super Improvers board. Students set individual goals and as they work towards their goals they move up through our All-Star levels.
Homework chart: Student who complete all of their work for the week get to put their names on a cool ticket for a weekly drawing.
Royal Gems: We can earn Royal gems, as a class, anytime the class is caught being Royal and making smart choices.
Team Challenge: Students are grouped at their home seats together in teams and each team has a team scoreboard on the bulletin board. Groups that earn the most points by the end of the month get to choose a group reward.
As a class, the students can earn a class reward through advancement as a whole on the Super Improver Team such as:
Class Movie
Extra Recess
Other activities as voted on by the class
- Stars for the Super Improver board. Students will set personal goals and receive stars for improvement on the goal at different levels. When they reach ten stars for improvement on their goal, they will advance to a different level, setting a new personal improvement goal. Each student will begin at the white "Beginner" level.
- Royal Bucks: Students earn Royal Bucks when I see positive behaviors. Students' desks are grouped together and each group can earn Royal Bucks for positive behaviors. The group that earns the most Royal Bucks will earn popcorn during the class period of their choice.
